Edgar (left) and Simon… one of those ideas I’ve had kicking around for over a year that I’m still bound and determined will (one day) turn into a great comic.
I hope…

Just had the urge to doodle a little… one of the most under-rated comic characters, Shade: The Changing Man.

No – my job was not so bad I’d call it “Blood From A Stone…” – but that is my favourite track from Giorgio Moroder’s rework of Metropolis…
So – yeah – just left my job after 5½ years to go to a smaller firm, doing design I suspect will be a little more “up my alley” – and without so much overhead causing churn and unfocused Design… I’m excited (and nervous, obviously)… but think this will be a good fit. It also means I’ve had a bit of renewed energy, and therefore (finally) a new “What Can’t Be Erased” – hoping more to come soon.
After a brief (alright – less than brief) hiatus, I’ve got some new “What Can’t Be Erased” coming shortly… the year coming to a close, me getting older before then, taking some stock – time for some new comics… keep watching, VERY soon…
Sketched after seeing Devo twice in one weekend a few weeks back… not sure why I didn’t get around to posting it sooner… but here it is.
If Devo come to your town… go. Go fast.
Sometimes, while listening to music, you just need to draw from it (literally). Clint Mansell from Pop Will Eat Itself.
I get some odd gigs, if only due to the amount of time I’ve been working as an illustrator… this was a rough sketch for a proposed site called “Coupon Beaver” that (apparently) never came to be. Somewhere there is a sketch of the beaver surfing on a mouse (computer kind, not other small fuzzy mammal kind)… but, as that is one of the more “design by committee” ideas I’ve had to deal with – it won’t be seeing the light of day.
The cute Coupon Beaver himself? He can show his face with some dignity intact…
This started as a sketch while watching Burn Notice – and I went for the “Miami-Ex-Spy” vibe… with a bit of a 70s flair and some visual cues from the old Anime shows of the era… actually pretty happy with how it turned out…
I sometimes forget that most people who know my work DON’T know I have a regular gig drawing spot illustrations for Trot magazine (biggest harness racing magazine in Canada). A strange gig, and one that keeps me on my toes, but one that I really enjoy for the variety of curve balls it throws at me regularly.
Sometimes I find myself doodling around with generic concepts… today I saw a picture of some decorated military folk, and decided to sketch the guys we don’t see… the in-the-trenches, career types who keep the guys in the ground alive.
Went for a simple, barrel-chested, all-American type - and was quite happy with the outcome (obviously, or I wouldn’t have posted it).
